Born in 1987 in a French/Greek/Syrian family, Marie-Claudine Papadopoulos studied the violin under Ana Haas and Alexis Galpérine at the National Conservatory of Strasbourg, where she graduated with the highest distinction (gold medal) at the age of fourteen.
In 2002, she began studying under Ulf Hoelscher at the Karlsruhe Musikhochschule, where she obtained a Masters degree in 2011. Since 2012, she has been attending soloist classes under Roman Nodel at the Mannheim Musikhochschule.
In 2017 she received the “Diplôme d’artiste” at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. In May 2012, she was awarded the first prize at the “Ton und Erklärung” (sound and explanation) competition, held by the Deutsche Wirtschaft, in Munich. Marie-Claudine was laureate and finalist of numerous international competitions, including the DAAD-Preis, the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy competition, the Oldenburg Promenade and the Henri Marteau competition, where the jury awarded her a special distinction for the best interpretation of works by J.S. Bach.In 2011, she obtained the first prize at Neustadt’s Spring Academy, which awarded her a performance with the German State Philharmonic orchestra of Rheinland-Pfalz.
Marie-Claudine performs as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, the Göttinger Symphoniker, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Capella Istropolitana orchestra, the Orquestra do Norte, the Kurpfälsisches Kammerorchester, the Schlesische Philarmonie, and the Slovak Sinfonietta. She has worked with numerous prestigious conductors, including Volker Schmitt-Gertenbach, Christoph Müller, Klaus Arp, David Geringas, José Ferreira Lobo, Kaspar Zehnder, and Andreas Henning.
In parallel, Marie-Claudine is active with several chamber music ensembles and has performed in numerous festivals across Europe, including the summer festival in Heraklion (Greece), the “Murten Classics” (Switzerland), the “kammermusikfestival” in Thy (Denmark), the “festival jeunes talents” (Paris), the “Giovanni Artisti” festival in Cervo (Italy), and the “Schloss Solitude” in Stuttgart (Germany).
Passionate about teaching and driven by the urge to transmit her love for music, Marie-Claudine created in 2008 twith the cellist Alexandre Vay the Summer Academy for Chamber Music in Trouville-sur-mer, where she teaches every summer. She is sponsored by the Fondation Meyer and the Rotary Club. In 2008, she obtained the prestigious prize of the Kulturfonds from Salzburg, and performed in Mozarteum concert Hall. Marie-Claudine plays since 2016 on a N. Amati violin, graciously lent to her by a private collector.
Dimitri Papadopoulos was born in Princeton (USA) in 1985.
He studied music in France and Germany, where he obtained the highest diplomas (1st prize CNSMD Lyon, class of Edson Elias, and Master of Professional Performance, Folkwang-Universität Essen, class of Arnulf von Arnim).
He obtained many prizes at international piano competitions in France (1st prize Saint-nom-la-Bretèche, 1st prize Vulaines-sur Seine, 1st prize Lagny-sur-Marne), in Italy (5th prize Senigallia, 2nd prize Incontro Internazionale Giovanni Pianisti Roma) and in Germany (1st Steinway Forderpreis 2010 Dusseldorf, 3rd prize Max Reger competition 2011).
To improve his piano understanding, he regularly participated in many master-classes with grand pianists such as Kristian Zimerman, Alicia de Larrocha, Sergei Maltzev, Dominique Merlet and Charles Rosen. As a pianist, he often performs either as a soloist, as a chamber music ensemble member or as soloist with orchestras in Europe (France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Denmark, Switzerland) and USA.
He has played in festivals such as Klavierfestival Ruhr, Strasbourg festival, Young Talents Paris, Young Talents Athens, Nice, Toulouse les orgues, Menton, Festival de l’Epau, festival Pontino di Latina (Italy), Heraklion summer festival, Thy chamber music festival (Dennmark), Giovanni artisti Cervo, … He also plays regularly live on French radio “France Musique”.
He has recorded three albums: Haydn violin sonatas with his sister Marie-Claudine Papadopoulos, Beethoven cello sonatas with cellist Alexandre Vay (co-principal cellist at Munich Rundfunkorchester), and a disc recorded by the Bayerishe Rundfunk (Schubert, Ravel, Gerschwin).
He teaches piano at the Geneva Conservatory since 2014. Dimitri Papadopoulos is also very interested in the sciences and has a Bachelor degree in mathematics. Dimitri Papadopoulos is sponsored by the French bank Société Générale and the German association DAAD.
Born in 1986, Alexandre Vay started playing music at the age of five. In 2005, he entered the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon" (CNSMD) and studied in the class of Yvan Chiffoleau. After three years he graduated with the first Prize by unanimous decision of the jury. In 2008, he decided to perfect himself with Martin Ostertag at the University of Music in Karlsruhe, where he successfully obtained a Master in 2012 and a Diploma of Soloist in 2014.
Passionate about chamber music, he formed a duo with pianist and fellow student at Lyon, Dimitri Papadopoulos. Following numerous concerts of Beethoven’s complete sonatas for cello and piano (Lyon, Arras Theatre, Strasbourg, Bangkok), the Conservatory invited the duo to record a CD of Beethoven’s complete sonatas. In 2011, they won the third prize at the International Competition of Chamber Music “Max Reger”. They were subsequently invited by Frederic Lodéon to perform on the French radio programs "Plaisirs D’amour” (France Musique) and “Carrefour de l’Odéon” (France Inter), « Chamber music concerts » on the Bavarian Radio and SWR in Baden-Baden.
Alexandre was mentored by several foremost cellists, including Janos Starker, Gary Hoffman, Anner Bylsma, Antonio Meneses, Patrick Demenga and Steven Isserlis. His career is marked by collaborations with major figures in the musical world, including Ulf Hoelscher, Daniel Blumenthal, Mate Szüks and Pascal Devoyon.
Alexandre’s desire to explore the lyrical and symphonic repertoire encouraged him to participate in the European Union’s Youth Orchestra under the direction of V. Ashkenazy in 2006. Following a successful competition at the age of twenty-one, he is regularly invited to perform as soloist at the National Opera House in Lyon. Since September 2012, Alexandre is Associate Solo Cello at Munich’s Radio Orchestra. Alexandre has also performed as a soloist with numerous orchestra, including Ulf Hoelscher, Daniel Blumenthal, Mate Szüks and Pascal Devoyon.
Alexandre has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestra, including the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Baden-Baden Philarmonia Orchestra, the San Pedro Sula Philarmonic (Honduras), the Orchestre du Mans and in numerous festivals across Europe, such as the Épau festival in Le Mans, the summer festival in Epernay, the Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark, the Chamber music Festival of Cervo Italy, and other festivals in Romania, Russia and Thailand where he gave the first concert with the complete Beethoven works for cello and piano in 2014. In 2013, Alexandre performed in a series of seven concerts at Karlsruhe’s Opera, where he played three suites by J.S. Bach (2,3, and 6), accompanied by dancers (choreographed by H. Spoerli).
Passionate about teaching, Alexandre is a cello Professor since 2009 at the Summer Academy of Music in Trouville-sur-Mer and at the Summer Academy in Craponne. He gives Masterclasses in Lyon, Le Mans, Bangkok and San Pedro Sula (Honduras). He also recorded the first cello Suite by Bach for a special “prenatal” recording: (Fuzeau edition) and the complete piano trio et piano quartet of R. Strauss with Daniel Blumenthal, Doren Dinglinger, Tony Nys (CPO Label).
